Do Your Child’s Feet or Ankles Hurt?

Your Consultation for Pediatric Foot Care in Boca Raton & Boynton Beach, FL

If your child is not participating as often in sports or in other physical activities or is complaining of foot pain, don't think it's caused by "growing pains".

Your child may have a common developmental foot condition such as flat feet that could be simply treated with a custom molded orthotic. In addition, parents may observe that their children are often falling or tripping and not able to keep up with normal activities. This may be due to a condition called in-toeing or out-toeing.

CUSTOM ORTHOTIC: Many childhood foot ailments can be helped with custom orthotic which is an insert that fits into the shoe that keeps the bones in the feet in their proper alignment. This can eliminate their foot pain and allow normal development as your child matures into adulthood.

Pediatric foot care can help facilitate healing and keep a specific condition from worsening.

Morton’s Neuroma

A neuroma is an enlargement of the nerve that provides sensation to the toes. This enlargement can be due to poor foot structure, poorly fitting shoes or trauma to the feet.

SYMPTOMS: A neuroma may cause pain between your toes, swelling between your toes, pain in your forefoot, pain when you put weight on the ball of your foot and numbness or tingling in the ball of your foot

TREATMENT: Help for neuromas typically includes padding, custom orthotics, oral anti-inflammatory medication, cortizone injections or alcohol sclerosing therapy which usually eliminates the need for surgery. If these conservative treatments do not relieve the symptoms, surgical excision may be performed. Get in touch with Family Foot Centers for a complete evaluation.
